Date: 05 March 2008
Venue: Citigroup Centre
Speakers
The panel will comprise Richard Paver, Vice President Group Real Estate, BP International, and other industry commentators.
Description
Whilst the importance of being ‘sustainable’ is unquestionable, it is less clear whether a sustainable building compromises efficiency and has an impact on the capital value of the property.
Our speakers will offer their opinion and pose questions for everyone to consider in roundtable group discussions. The views expressed from each group will then be shared with the audience and summarised on the UK Chapter website.

Title: Christmas Lunch
Date: 03 December 2007
Venue: BAFTA, Piccadilly
Description
Figgy puddings were not the only thing on the menu on 11th December as industry professionals gathered to get in the Christmas spirit and to find out about the new 4i Forum programme at Leander Club, Henley-on-Thames.
Delegates at the annual event, sponsored by Willmetts Solicitors and IBEX, were also joined by rugby legends Ieuan Evans and Zinzan Brooke who gave an entertaining after-lunch speech.
4i Forum has been created to develop breakthrough ideas and to encourage strategic thinking and entrepreneurial behaviour within the CRE function. The scheme has been designed specifically for CoreNet Global UK members to run over a two year period and will be held initially at the Henley Management College in Berkshire.
Nigel Baker, Senior Director EMEA Corporate Real Estate at Microsoft and Thames Valley Branch Chair said: “This new programme is a first for CoreNet Global UK. The forums will aim to make an impact on delegates’ strategic thinking by linking and integrating the learning directly to their own strategy and business processes.”

Title: Global Summit
Date: 03 March 2008 - 05 March 2008
Venue: Mumbai
Description
The 2008 CoreNet Global Summit, Mumbai will examine talent from the viewpoint of the enterprise, the real estate industry, and the individual:
The Enterprise
We will explore both the demand and supply-side perspectives and delve into the workplace implications, particularly the need for new kinds of workplaces and the growing relationships between location, workplace, brand, and company culture.
The Real Estate industry
Real estate practitioners fill important roles within corporate real estate departments and operating units of large service provider organisations. We will examine the changing nature of real estate-related jobs in these organisations, where these jobs are located in the world, where the talent is, and - most importantly - strategies for building and maintaining a pipeline of future employees. We will also explore the competitive environment for real estate talent - including the strong attraction of investment and development real estate.
The individual
We will also take a hard look at how the required competencies for real estate-related jobs are changing. Skill and culture gaps will be examined, as well as resources and strategies for bridging those gaps. Career planning strategies will be developed and shared.

Title: First Annual President’s Summer Party - A Cracking Success!
Date: 26 June 2008
Venue: Pearson, 80 Strand
Description
The first annual President’s Summer Party was held in Pearson’s HQ, in the spectacular boardroom suite - on the 10th floor of the famous art deco building that used to be known as Shell Mex House - with fantastic views up and down the Thames.
Our President, Robin Harris, welcomed over 120 guests. “We are delighted to see you all here,” he said, “and hope you will have a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable evening. In CoreNet’s UK Chapter we mean to learn the latest on corporate real estate - but we also mean to have fun. This Summer Party is our latest idea for having fun - complementing our Annual Awards Dinner in the early spring and the Summit in November - and we very much hope that this Summer Party will be the first of many.”
Members and friends from across the CRE industry were welcomed with champagne. Live music was provided by superb jazz pianist Ben Waters - a practice run before he headed off to play at Glastonbury the following weekend. From the several terraces, overlooking the Embankment, we were able to sample the outside air (rather chilly for the time of year!) and really take in the sights.
Supper, a choice of braised lamb tagine, teriyaki salmon and pasta with roast vegetables supported by a range of salads and followed up by chocolate brownies and crème fraiche, was served in the stunning marble entrance hall.
Finally for those who wanted (and many did) there were tours round Penguin’s offices on the floors below to see just how the rather classic space had been adapted to suit the company’s needs.
Feedback has been excellent - it is generally agreed that it was a fantastic evening, a great event and that it should indeed be the first of many.

Description
With 74% of companies reporting problems with finding skilled staff, house prices at an all time high and competition for professionals from emerging markets, YEP (Young Entrepreneurs in Property) and CoreNet Global UK are asking the question – are we doing enough to attract and retain the right people?
Join us for the second joint YEP/CoreNet event when we will endeavour to answer this question by examining the careers of three individuals at different stages in their work life. We expect a lively and thought-provoking debate on this very topical issue.
Thanks to Reynolds Porter Chamberlain for kindly sponsoring this event.

The journey from Corporate Occupier to Business and Property Solutions Provider
Havant Case Study, Langstone Technology Park
Please join us to hear how one organisation made the journey from being the corporate occupier on a site that had a large vacant space problem in 1996, to the present day when it is the solutions provider of a highly successful multi-tenanted site.
Fasset is now able to use this experience to lead other corporate occupiers to embark on a similar journey, to maximise the value of their assets.
The UK Chapter is delighted to invite all CoreNet Global members to this event, which will also mark the inauguration of a new South Coast Branch. Please pass on this invitation, particularly to your end-user colleagues in the area who may be interested in attending this and future local events.
Thanks to Fasset for kindly hosting and sponsoring this event.
